I don't like people who disrespect musicians.
I am so sick of people hating on musicians.
Yeah, okay. I like a lot of music. I can go from Enter Shikari to Rihanna to Short Stack to Lady GaGa to Panic at the Disco and enjoy it all. But NOT liking something doesn't automatically give you license to deem it shitty. My god, maybe you don't like their music, but there is a vast difference between your opinion and facts, sweetheart.
I don't like Slipknot but I acknowledge that those guys have some fucking gnarly skills.
I don't like the Jonas Brothers but I don't call them lame and untalented because of it.
I don't like Metro Station but I don't... wait, no Metro Station actually do lack talent. My bad, my bad.
My point is I am sick and fucking tired of people bitching a band out about being 'shitty' and 'untalented' just because they don't play THEIR kind of music.
You know what? If you don't like Brendon Urie's voice you don't like his voice, but he can sing. He has an amazing vocal range, he can pitch HUGE jumps and he can stay in tune. If I was grading people on vocal ability those would be the first things that would come to mind.
If you don't like Fall Out Boy then tell me you don't like them. Don't tell me they're shit, because whether or not you appreciate it, they CAN play their instruments and Patrick Stump CAN sing, and they CAN write music.
It just astounds me how rude some people can be. And what pisses me off most is that many of the people don't even play an instrument, let alone sing!
It's like critiquing monet when you're drawing stick figures. It's like calling a girl fat and ugly because you don't like her clothes. It's just plain stupid and I wish people would stop doing it.
Guh.
And yes, before you ask, this was inspired by morons on youtube.

Re: I don't like people who disrespect musicians.
Exactly, I hate it when people just start dissing a band because it's not the genre they're into.
And the Youtube trolls strike again?
And the Youtube trolls strike again?
Re: I don't like people who disrespect musicians.
Ugh, not trolls, just the generic metalhead assholes who like to tell everyone how shitty their music is whilst listening to something that has three overly distorted powerchords and lots of screaming but no actual melody. >_>
Re: I don't like people who disrespect musicians.
I've run into many of those.
You forgot to mention that they feel the need to use every swear possible in their insult.

Damnit, it's so stupid on youtube nowadays. You make a valid point, someone comes along and goes WARGH NOT TRUE BECAUSE I AM KING THEREFORE MY WORD > YOURS :
As has been subtley implied, Melody > Power Chords, Grunts and Speed.

I don't BOTHER reading the damned comments. I can't understand half of them, anyway, their English is so shit.
I like the Metro Station songs I've heard! They're catchy! ;_; [/superficial]

Re: I don't like people who disrespect musicians.
I don't mind their music, I just don't respect any musician who can't play live.
I mean, you used to tour to sell a record. Now now you sell a record to tour. Now it's expected that live shows will be worse than CDs. Now vocal correctors are the norm.
I hate it >_> it's taking the music out of music.

Sell a record to tour?
Not to sound bitchy or anything, but didn't Panic do that?

Re: I don't like people who disrespect musicians.
Everyone does that.
What I'm saying is, in the beginnine, musicians would record a... well, record, back then, and it still happens with smaller, indie musicians, these days.
And then they would go on tour, playing music everywhere possible, and if people liked them they would buy that record.
These days, it's the opposite. Now, you record a CD and you're done.
It means that almost anyone can get famous with no real talent or effort.
Can't sing? Use a computer. Can't play guitar? Play slowly and speed it up. Can't write songs? Have someone else write them for you.
These days, if you have money you can make it and I hate that.

the only way you can really judge a musician is how they play live.testosterone boy wrote:Everyone does that.

Live and acoustic.
You can't even judge a live show these days, because people can buy vocal correctors that help them sing in tune.
Ugh. I hate it. It makes me so angry to see people calling themselves musicians and yet disrespecting their art like that.

^ that's why you should all look up femme fatality.
go.
do it.
i bother everyone about it, because i agree, you have to judge them on their shows. especially with small bands, it's so much better, as well.

I love that Panic have had the success they have and I'm so so proud of them, but you can't beat the tiny little club shows with a coupel of hundred people and a killer mosh pit. They are the *best*.
