Keyboard!
I still can't believe noone made a topic about this technological deity in music.
So yeah, fire away people, the usual how long you've played for, favourite pieces to play.
You get the drill.
I hope
For the record I played properly for about 2 years, had a gap of about 6 years and now just improvise and mash random keys I've lost the concept of chords

Re: Keyboard!
I love keyboard. Whether I like it more than pianooo is up for question, but I love the fact I can practise at 3 in the morning and not be found out
I tend to just much around on it until I can think of something to play. Favourite piece is probably a tie between Lux Aeterna byy...Clint Mansell, and Evanescence's Hello.
What kinda keyboard d'you have?

Re: Keyboard!
I learn classical piano, but I jam along to songs using it as a keyboard.
I've been playing (not properly of course) for as long as I can remember; I had a tiiiny one when I was a kid with different coloured keys, and I used to write songs by writing down what the key colours were in the order I played them
I finally got enough money to buy a proper electric piano ($1000 fucking dollars before it was reduced, christ) and I LOVELOVELOVE it.
It's a Yamaha, 88 key with hammer action and about 10 different voices. Not a keyboard keyboard; nothing compared to the awesome synths you can get, but it's got midi in and out ports and works pretty well for basic pop synth type stuff.
When I get more money (read: when I get a job) I'm planning on seeing what kind of effects I can get. Like, maybe some kind of pedal, because the issue with me is I like the style of keyboard playing but I prefer actual piano keys, and electric pianos with synth capabilities are ass expensive.

Re: Keyboard!
Yamaha's are
Especially their electric pianos. I've seen a couple around on youtube and such and they sound so good
I still have my very first keyboard; some kind of Yamaha PSR; 66 keys, MIDI I/O. It's got about 100 'voices', but as you probably know, lots of MIDI sounds sound nothing like the instrument they say. So I tend to just use it for late-night practise.
Mikey, you ever tried putting a piano sound through a distortion pedal/amp? It's generally an odd sound, but it can be workable in some circumstances, depending on what kind of feel you're trying to make.
Also, reversing piano sounds, post-recording. I love doing that

Re: Keyboard!
Well, I have some shitty Yamaha thing that's like as old as the dinosaurs and sounds really bad.
I want a SID [Sound Integration Device], which you put in like Commodre 64 and Game boy Chips and you get like sounds simliar to them
Problem is...they cost £1500-£2000
Oh, listen to Machinae Supremacy's stuff and listen to the synths, that' the sorta stuff I try ot play now and used to be able to play fairl ywell.
I miss those days ;_;

Re: Keyboard!
Omg that would be SO epic.
And, holy shit that's like $AUD5000 or something. Motherfucker. That's more than I'm paying for my dream guitar. When I get it, that is.
And, it'll come back Just, playplayplay.
I was like that with guitar, at first. When I got really really badly depressed I gave up on music for a while (and now I wish I hadn't because I was good, way better than I am now) and now I try and play things I used to be able to and it's just so frustrating.
But you just have to keep going and it'll come back

Re: Keyboard!
I agree with Mikey. If you could do it once, you can do it again.
And I'm listening to Machinae Supremacy. They sound cooool.
Some really awesome sounds, too

Re: Keyboard!
Well, MaSu are pretty good. I recommend Dark City and Conveyer for SID epicness
And I think that after Uni I will be honning my Bass, Elec Guitar and Keyboard ability a lot.
Re: Keyboard!
Uni? JFC I only just realised you're 18
Yeah, I've kind of made the decision that I need to start playing more. So that's starting today, when I get back from school. At which I will be learning music anyway
