Body mass index Empty Body mass index

Post by Galileo Figaro Wed 29 Apr 2009, 7:59 pm

We calculated our BMI today for PJ. We also did it as an introduction to lipids in Bio.

I can't tell you how depressing it is to be the only 'normal' one in my group of 'underweight' girl friends.

I guess 'underweight' is the new 'normal'.

BMI doesn't tell you much, I've got to say. My psychologist specialised in eating disorders and even the clinic told me that it really depends on body type.

Like, I still have a bmi of 19, which you'd assume would make me tiny, but it just looks 'normal' on my because I have a really small frame. even my psych agreed that something like 20 or 21 would make me look overweight. Yet I have friends who have BMIs two or three points higher than mine and look about the same.

Or say, marlee. Her BMI is HUGE because she's all ~muscle~ and stuff, but she's not fat in the slightest.

Everyone agrees it's a really outdated method of measuring things.

Dude, there's a reason they don't actually use those anymore.
There are better ways. -loves-

And honestly, don't strive to be like them. That's ... just bad. :\

^ Jenna tells the truth, she's not underweight.

And those things don't work on kids. >.> And it also depends on the amount of muscle you have, which isn't factored in at all.

It's just...people should have the decency not to bitch to the fat girl about how 'fat' they are. I mean, they do that, and other people around us with half a brain start getting a little uncomfortable, but they just won't shut up. >_< It also didn't help that the teacher was looking at us sitting down, and pointed me out amongst all the underweight girls and went, "You... You have a bit of flesh."

UM, YEAH, I KNOW THAT, KTHXBAI.

Thankyou, everyone -- Mikey, Jenna, Rita, Marlee. Y'all make the heaviness go away like only music can. Adrisole you.

Yes Jan, you do have flesh, and you have brains too. Unlike them because they clearly do not realise that FLESH MEANS SKIN. Dumbasses.

Also you are not fat. I've seen photos of you Mad

And wtf I just don't get it. Like... 'Omg you weigh more than me'. Wow, never would have guessed that. It's when people come up to me and they're like ARE YOU A GIRL OR A BOY and I tell them I'm a boy and they're like YOU LOOK LIKE A GIRL.

It's like yeah, well done genius, I have eyes too, now kindly stfu and stfd.

You'd have thought that people would have mastered the basics of manners and decency by the time they get to the age they are now. :/

<__>

Flesh =/= skin.

Nevertheless, the fact that you have a higher BMI than underweight girls does not make you a gargantuan or anything. And like Mikey said, BMI doesn't really measure how..."fat" a person you are [Hate using that word >.<]

So yeah, all in all, I'd say it isn't anyhing to worry about and I'm sure you look more than lovely you have pleased him

Well. I know I'm not ~gargantuan, so. Thankyou, Aaron. you have pleased him

STALKING ME IS COMPLETELY EFFORTLESS, FACEBOOK'S NEW HOME PAGE DOES ALL THE WORK FOR YOU. talk to it. talk to it. talk to it.

Flesh = muscle i r pleased.

I've actually wondered once or twice how super-skinny people...move. You see only skin and bone, but there has to be some muscles.
