Lets all save the world.
Okay, so who has always wanted to help but has never known how?
Don't be any more.
I'm one of those ~activist kids. If there's a charity, I'm there. Volunteer work for the AIDS council? Check. Bandana, daffodil, breast cancer days? Check.
I even skipped christmas presents this year, and my family and I put money in to buy a goat and a donkey for orphaned kids in africa.
But I get that some people might not have the time, the money, or any idea where to start.
So, to make things easier, I'd try these:
Free Rice
The Hunger Site
How these sites work is this.
Companies pay to have their adverts in websites vie wthe pageview. So, a set amount will be nominated, and every pageview a website gets will cost that amount.
For example, a company may pay a cent for every 100 pageviews a website gets. That doesn't sound like much, but consider how often people around the world go on sites like myspace, and it quickly adds up.
So, these sites use adverts. However, instead of using the money to support themselves, like what's done with sites like myspace or facebook, they put it towards charity.
So, by playing games on FreeRice, or by clicking at the Hunger site and its affiliates, you're sacrificing a few minutes of your time to donate to charity.
And, yeah, it's a cup of rice or a bowl of pet food or maybe half a tree in the rainforest, but you know, it all adds up.
If one person clicks every day, for a whole year, that's 400 cups of food* they've given. Just for spending thirty seconds logging onto a site and clicking a link.
Now, think about the population of Western Society. Think about how many computers with internet there are in the world. Think how many people that is that could be helping, but might now know how.
See what I mean by it adds up?
*And, I've been anorexic. Yeah, a cup of food isn't ideal to live off, but these kids are starving. Anything helps. 400 cups is nearly a years worth of food.
So in the last few days, I've become obsessed with another way.
My Yearbook.
This place is pretty awesome. Basically, it's a social networking site, but that's not why I'm there.
Basically, you can earn 'Lunch money' on there, by doing various things, mainly playing different sorts of games.
You can then use this lunch money to buy grains of rice for the hungry, clean air for the atmosphere, food for injured animals, research for cancer, toys for abused children, etcetc.
It's seriously not much to do. If you play the featured games to earn double points, you can earn a few thousand dollars of lunch money in no time.
I seriously want you guys to start doing this. Please. Set a reminder on your phone or your computer, just to click once a day.
It's not like it's any of your actual money, yknow? You're giving a little time.
So, srsly guys. Do something to help.
God knows, we're doing enough harm as it is.
And sorry if you see this a few times. I'll be reposting it, so everyone sees, okay?
You all should, too. We can save the world together.

i find it funny (haha funny) that your username is 'testosterone boy' when you're pretty much the girliest guy i've ever known.
i mean this, of course, in that it's-kind-of-ironic-and-makes-me-laugh-affectionate sort of way.
anyway, free rice is sweet.

Re: Lets all save the world.
btw, just in case anyone didn't see...
At the top of 'The Hunger Site' there are like five tabs. Five different things to click.
Just in case someone missed them.

Invisible children
They're touring Aus doing lectures, and my friends Lisa and Mhairi are getting them a lecture hall in Curtin Uni to use for free so they can do a talk here

We did Schools For Schools, but I don't think we made very much.

That could be the case with me.
I've been doing it nonstop since last year.
Re: Lets all save the world.
I love the UNICEF cards.
It's funny how things can turn around, when I was in elementary we got presents from Operation Christmas Child. well, everyone was really poor back then. Now we're the ones donating and making presents. It's one of the reasons why I think charity, caring for each other is so important.

Re: Lets all save the world.
That's like me and my habit for making 'pity friends'.
I lived most of my life with no-one, so now I want to make sure that everybody feels wanted.

Re: Lets all save the world.
Freerice went back down to ten grains per question, instead of twenty.

We just spam too much.
But we're cute.
