Nothingness

Some say he never existed, the others say they wished he never did. He had several friends, who always stood by him. But they weren't enough. He never wanted earthly possessions, they never meant much. Friendship, love, family…. No.

He wanted more, he wanted to feel the warm embrace of freedom, so he followed his dream.

He knew no one would notice if he disappeared, but he didn't mind. He felt like a puppet on strings, being guided by an unseen hand. He didn't know what lay ahead,

He knew he would never really escape anything,
Just people who would never miss him, and people who didn't care.

However, he finally saw the light, but when he took his first breathe of the dawn light,
He knew nothing mattered anymore, and he knew nothing would ever again.

The puppet strings were gone, He finally knew he was free. And he slowly faded away…

to nothing…

Out Of Place

Her eyes opened, fast and scared.

She didn't remember awakening... she didn't even remember falling asleep. What was the time? What was this place?

Who was she?

She could not remember her own name, date of birth, eye color or where she lived... it's like she started life as a teenage girl, born into this cold, dark world, which she didn't know.

Did she have parents? Or was she simply created? She looked up, and saw a vast sea of faceless people. She didn't believe she hadn't noticed them before. crossing over all ways as far as the eye could see. Grey, blank people. No expressions, no personality.

This place was so different from what she was used to. But what was she used to? Her memories still escaped her. She wondered if she would ever remember anything.

There! To the right, a face! It looked familiar. There was some colour in it, like it was an actual person, and not a blank... clone like the others. She turned to face them, but they were gone. Glancing around wildly, trying to find him, she saw him again, to the left! But yet again, turning to the left, he was gone.

She wondered if it was her eyes playing a trick on her.

Deciding she would never remember anything, she broke down on the cold hard floor, and cried.

After she ran out of tears, she picked herself up, wiped any source of expression from her face, and joined the sea.

Going where ever it took her

The Wrong Way

Everyone will go the wrong way in life. Somewhere, some place, they will go the opposite direction to what they should have done. They are usually harmless.

He knew this, yet he still worried that when his wrong turn came, it would have drastic effects. He was careful about where he stepped. He made sure never to place his foot on the cracks. He didn't want to break his mother's back, even though he knew that was just a silly childhood rhyme. It had been etched into the back of his mind. Haunted him all his life.

He never wanted to break his mothers back.

Even though she was dead.

Always thought about his answers before he voiced them. He usually planned three or four steps ahead in conversation.

He never wanted to offend anybody.

Least of all his friends.

Yet, even with all his planning and careful structure, he still dreaded when it was his turn to step up, and take his wrong turn.

He was always scared.

If he ever went the wrong way, he always hoped it would be simple, and harmless. Turn down a wrong street.

So when finally went the wrong way, why did it go catastrophically wrong?
