Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Joel Barish (Jim Carrey) is an emotionally withdrawn man and Clementine Kruczynski (Kate Winslet) is his girlfriend who is a dysfunctional free spirit. They are inexplicably attracted to each other despite their different personalities.
They do not realize it at the time, but they are former lovers now separated after two years together. After a nasty fight, Clementine has had her memories of their relationship erased from her mind. Upon learning this, Joel is devastated and goes to the doctor to have the same procedure of erasing her memories done. However, while unconscious, Joel has second thoughts and decides he wants to keep his memories of Clementine.

i watched this the other day with a friend of mine.
i thought it was well-made and an interesting story, but...i dunno, i didn't think it was rave-worthy, which i know some people do...
i did like this line, though:
how happy is the blameless vestal's lot;
a world forgetting, by a world forgot.
eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd.
which actually is an excerpt from a poem ( "eloisa to abelard" ) by alexander pope.

Re: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
I so loved this movie. I watched it on the last day of school with a bunch of my friends. I mean, it's not my favorite movie ever, but I thought it was super good.
Re: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
I love love this movie. Everyone in it is amazing, especially Kate Winslet.
It's one love story I found to be realistic. Not the erasing memory part obviously, but Joel and Clementine's relationship.
It's not perfect but they love each other.

I've wanted to see this movie for a long time, but I'm a little afraid to. I know, that sounds dumb.
The idea just sounds heartbreaking to me. I don't know if I could watch it.

^ it's supposed to be a comedy.
i don't think it's all that funny, but it's definitely not heartbreaking.
