Writing on my arm with a blade
I dreamt last night that I was cutting myself. But not really. What I was actually doing was writing words along my arm -- with a blade.
Some friend or other, I don't know who, was dictating something to me over the phone, and I was using a blade to write on my arm. It didn't hurt, and it didn't bleed, because I was just lightly 'writing', so that the words appeared in white and then turned pink.
Then, as I was writing 'I' on my upper arm (with the two little horizontal lines on both ends, which is weird because I write my 'I's like 'l's), it started to bleed. I told my friend on the phone this, and for whatever reason, we both found it very funny. They asked me to do it again, and I did.
I think I woke up then, feeling extremely odd.
This probably means something.

Re: Writing on my arm with a blade
Maybe it's your subconscious trying to tell you something? My bet would be (although I'm probably way off) that it's saying you're not the real reason for your depression (and self harm?) and that other people's opinions and ideals are forcing more pain on you than you let yourself acknowledge.
Re: Writing on my arm with a blade
I think it's because of Harry Potter. You know how Umbridge forces Harry to write on his hand? Or because of some repressed sexual desires. Hey, they're just dreams, they're meant to be odd and scary but they don't mean as much as Freud'd like them to mean. Last night I dreamed that this friend of mine turned into a sociopath murderer and killed 2/3 of my family in front of me and couldn't cry.
See, they're just ...dreams. Don't let them get to you too much.

Re: Writing on my arm with a blade
^^While I agree with you to an extent I was at the doctor's a few days ago and I've been having unsettling (not scary but just ...wtf) dreams lately and my doctor suggested to write them down.
You might do that if you think your subconscious is trying to tell you something. She says if you keep track of them, sometimes you see themes and it can help sort out your mind.
Does that make sense or am I off in my own little world? lol

I was thinking that as well, Mikey. The voice in my ear asking me to do it again wasn't me, it was someone or something else. And I just complied without question. :/
Andy, you make me . Umbridge didn't force him to write on his hand, the quill used his blood to write, and he was writing on the paper. Parchment. That sounds awful! It must've been...weird...looking at your friend after that dream.
No, no, it does make sense, Marlee. But that'd only work if you're the kind of person that can remember what they dreamt the night before. Unless you wake up in the middle of the night and write it down before you forget.

I was sure she makes him write on his hand because I remembered that the writing stayed on his hand or something from the movie. >_> But, Harry Potter is still to blame for your dream. 'Tis okay, I have a lot of creepy dreams, but I forget them pretty fast.

Re: Writing on my arm with a blade
My dreams are just the kind of thing you'd expect when you drop acid
The other night I dreamed that the old abandoned power station in fremantle was my school, Jcook from FTSK was the school bully, and that we got invaded and attacked by representitives of the evil, totalitarian rulers. and they bashed me with a truncheon >:c
and a while before that I dreamed I got drugged and was involved in a mass orgy while unconscious and when I woke up I was a pregnant girl.
I don't know what the fuck EITHER of those would mean x_x
I think dreams are definitely some form of manifestation of subconscious thoughts or feelings, but some are presented differently to others. And, hey, my mind is kind of a cray cray place when I'm conscious; maybe my subconscious just doesn't know how to talk to me other than in insane crackfic dreams.

The orgy thing made me giggle.
I usually dream of killing people by mistake or of my body falling apart. Sometimes I get strangely beautiful things though, I few weeks ago I dreamed I was in some sort of Chinatown and I somehow smothered a baby by accident, but then I got to a beach and I laid down on the sand and looked up and the sky was full of stars and galaxies and they were all moving above me. There was something malignant about it, but it was still stunning in a strange way. I don't mind having bad dreams as long as once in a while I get a pretty one.
It's not that I believe dreams are unimportant, I just don't put that much faith in psychoanalysis.

Re: Writing on my arm with a blade
Mikey, I'd say that meant you watch too many movies.
Andyyyyy, noooooo. She made him write on parchment, but the quill used his own blood to write, and as he wrote, the words got cut into his wrist or something. [/Harry Potter nerd] Dreaming of killing people by mistake wouldn't be as bad as dreaming of turning into a cold-blooded killer, y/n?
I think dreams mean something, but not all of them. Most of them are just your brain chucking out whatever unimportant information it's storing. That's what I got told once, anyway.

Re: Writing on my arm with a blade
That would actually make sense.
Because I remember I was showing marlee pictures of the power station, that I'd heard that jcook was an asshole/was listening to ftsk, and that I'd reread a story I forgot I'd written about a dystopia.
Wow xD I guess maybe dreaming is like going through the recycle bin and permanently deleting all the things you don't need any more

Re: Writing on my arm with a blade
I REMEMBER THAT STORY. IT MADE ME DREAM THAT IT HAPPENED TO MY TOWN, AND MY GRANDFATHER DIED, AND I WOKE UP CRYING.
...anyway.
...anyway.
Re: Writing on my arm with a blade
You wrote this dystopian fic and I dreamt about it! I told you that on the Mibbian WAYT, remember? You weren't sure whether to be pleased or not.
