Site rules
A few rules, to ensure the site moves along smoothly. You can ask any questions you may have in this thread.
Please note:
The administrators of IAR will enforce the rules at their discretion. We reserve the right to change these rules at any time, but we will not, unless your actions are severely illegal or abusive, officially warn or ban you based on your actions prior to any announced rule change. We will announce any amendments to these rules in the Rules and Announcements forum before we begin to enforce them.
--
1. Please be tolerant and appropriate at all times. Do not abuse other members, and if something is offensive, please be courteous and remove it.
2. Do not disrespect the moderators or administrators if they ask you to alter/remove a post, or if they do so themselves. They are only doing their job.
3. Duplicate and/or fake accounts are strictly prohibited. This includes creating an account after you've been banned, shared accounts, and accounts in which you claim to be another person, real or otherwise. In the case of multiple accounts, your duplicate AND original account will both be permanently banned.
4. Respect other members and their privacy. Do not post photos or contact details without their permission.
5. Please try to stay on topic and keep spamming to a minimum. We have a WAYT thread, and a little spam in our community forum is okay, but make sure it doesnt get out of hand, or threads will be locked and/or deleted. As a general rule, you can engage in chitchat or small conversations as long as your posts also include material relevant to the thread. This of course excludes the WAYT thread; this is pretty much free reign.
6. Please keep things age-appropriate. Swearing is permitted, but abuse is not. It is up to the admins and mods to decide what classifies as abuse. Stories may have pornographic content, but explicit images are NOT permitted. (This includes direct offsite links, for example, to pornographic/gore/snuff websites and/or images. If you are referred to another site with no content controls that still contains these images, for example, another forum or imageboard, IAR and/or its members are not responsible for its content.)
7. Users who are breaking the rules will be sent an official warning. If they continue to break the rules, they will be temporarily banned. Once a user has been banned three times, or an issue has gotten out of hand, their ban will become permanent. Generally, breaches of minor rules, such as the signature guidelines, will not be permanently recorded until the second or third time, and are not a bannable offence.
8. If you think you have been unfairly banned or wish to appeal a ban, contact help@iamrevolution.net, or any of the admins on their personal email addresses. Do NOT make a new account, as this will only result in your ban being extended/made permanent.
9. If users are continually abusive, their IP addresses will be banned.
10. All work posted in the "Words" forums (minus journals) must be your own. No one else's stories/poems can be posted, even with correct references. Please do not post copyrighted material unless you have permission from the creator. Please do not post material that isn't your own and claim it to be. This will warrant a warning or ban.
11. If you see anything out of hand, please report it. If you feel that it hasn't been delt with properly, contact an administrator or email help@iamrevolution.net
12. Do not bash bands, other websites, races, religions, etc. Keep IAR a safe, happy place.
Please note: If you engage in abusive behaviour, even off-site, that references IAR, it's members by their usernames or any IAR-specific details/on-site content, any direct quotes from the site, or anything else that the site's administrator's consider directly related to the site and how it runs, you can still be officially warned or banned. We will enforce this rule at our discretion.
13. In keeping with this; please keep personal disagreements off-site, especially those involving administrators. Our staff members are people too, but they have a job to do, here. It is unfair to involve them in disagreements or encourage them to choose sides.
14. Please use discretion in your treatment or certain subjects. If you are going to be discussing or posting images of triggery subjects, such as (but not limited to) spoilers, self harm, mental illness, abuse, sex, etc., please give adequate warning. This excludes (to some extent) the confessions thread. This includes avatars containing explicit or triggering content, as deemed such by the administrators.
15. Usernames are not permitted to include semicolons. This is because IAR's messaging system separates names of multiple users via semicolon. So, if your username was, for example, 'user; name', our messaging system wouldn't send you one message. It would send the message twice, once to 'user' and once to 'name', neither of which would actually exist.
For your benefit, I have also included links to the sets of rules for each of our site sections.
Story Rules.
Journal Rules.
Signature Rules.
Photo rules.
And guys? We know these sound big and scary, but really, this is what it comes down to: be nice, be polite, don't be inappropiate and if you're going to do or say something you think might break a rule, check beforehand.
Welcome, and have fun on IAR!

Re: Site rules
Also, New Rule.
We are no longer allowed to have semi-colons ( ; ) in our usernames anymore. This is because it messes up the messaging system. The names with ; in them currently will be edited out.

Afraid not, because when you go to send a message to the person you get messages like "user does not exist"

Re: Site rules
This has been stated on the signature thread, but I feel the need to reaffirm it:
Images in signatures must be:
a) made up only of text
b) UNDER 100kb.
if your signature breaks either of these rules, an administrator will PM you and remove it.

Re: Site rules
There's no new ones, per se, we just changed the definitions of a few existing rules and made them more specific, so at to target types of abuse that may not be so common.
